Bet Me - Jennifer Crusie

Bet MeBet Me by Jennifer Crusie

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Minerva Dobbs knows that happily-ever-after is a fairy tale, especially with a man who asked her to dinner to win a bet. Even if he is gorgeous and successful Calvin Morrisey. Cal knows commitment is impossible, especially with a woman as cranky as Min Dobbs. Even if she does wear great shoes, and keep him on his toes. When they say good-bye at the end of their evening, they cut their losses and agree never to see each other again.

But Fate has other plans, and it's not long before Min and Cal meet again. Soon, they're dealing with a jealous ex-boyfriend, Krispy Kreme donuts, a determined psychologist, chaos theory, a freakishly intelligent cat, Chicken Marsala, and more risky propositions than either of them ever dreamed of. Including the biggest gamble of all-true love.
(summary from Goodreads.com)

I really enjoyed reading this book because it was funny and entertaining. Min and Cal are an unlikely couple who fight all the time, yet there is a certain chemistry that draws them together and make this book a must read!

Too Good To Be True - Kristan Higgins

Too Good To Be TrueToo Good To Be True by Kristan Higgins

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Grace is a history teacher with an obsession with the Civil War. She lives alone and is single. Well, she gets sick of being single when everyone treats her like the walking wounded. So, to remedy the situation she makes up a charming and handsome man who's to good to be true and tells her family that she is dating him. This book had me laughing and relating to Grace. She is just a girl who wants to find "The One". Unfortunately, there is the issue of her hunky and dangerous next door neighbor. She immediately feels attracted to him but there is the issue of his unsavory past. He has a shady past that makes them an odd couple, but can they overcome that to be together or is Grace destined to make up more fake boyfriends?
(summary from Goodreads.com)

This book was a humorous and light read that was charming and laugh-out-loud funny! I really liked this book and will be reading more of Kristan Higgins books in the near future!

Night of The Huntress - Kathryn Smith

This book is part of the Brotherhood of Blood series and I am becoming addicted to these books!
Here is my review for this book:

Night of the Huntress (Brotherhood of Blood, #2)Night of the Huntress by Kathryn Smith

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a seductively sexy book with plenty of emotion! It started out slow at first, but then did it ever get hot! Bishop and Marika are an unlikely match because she hunts the very monster he is...vampires. It is not until she finds her feelings for him start changing when he defends her against men who come to kidnap her. Their love is a tender, erotic, and forever kind of love, but soon Marika must choose if she will love him forever or not.....

Moon Called - Patricia Briggs - Mercy Thompson Series

Hello again! No, I didn't drop off the face of the Earth! I just haven't been getting around to blogging because I have a new favorite website : Goodreads.com -- it's an awesome site where you can keep up with what your reading, see what your friends are reading, and get recommendations as to what you should read! I'm still reading as frantically as ever - averaging about 3 books a week. I've had to take a couple of breaks from reading to watch T.V. *boring* just to recharge my brain. I have found that there is nothing on Television that interests me anymore. Most days I keep it off and just read. As far as my writing goes, I haven't made too much progress because of lack of motivation. It helps that I have a writing partner, though! Now that I've had my shpill......here is the summary, book review, and rating I gave Moon Called ----

Summary:

Werewolves can be dangerous if you get in their way, but they'll leave you alone if you are careful. They are very good at hiding their natures from the human population, but I'm not human. I know them when I meet them, and they know me, too.

Mercy Thompson's sexy next-door neighbor is a werewolf.

She's tinkering with a VW bus at her mechanic shop that happens to belong to a vampire.

But then, Mercy Thompson is not exactly normal herself ... and her connection to the world of things that go bump in the night is about to get her into a whole lot of trouble.

(Summary from Goodreads.com)

Review: Loved it!

I give this book a 5/5 stars because it was one of the best series I've started in a long time! Mercy finds herself having to live in the presence of werewolves and get involved in their politics while also dealing with deadly vampires. Her sexy next door neighbor is an Alpha werewolf and they have a hot and cold relationship, but that makes the book more interesting to read. Mercy also has a charming friend who she used to be in love with involved in her life again. Things get really heated when one of them tries to claim Mercy as their own!

Halfway To The Grave - A Night Huntress Novel

I love, love, love this series! This is the very first book of the series. Although I have read the series out of order, these books are great reading just on their own! Here is a summary of the book with my review:

Summary:

Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father-the one responsible for ruining her mother's life. Then she's captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unholy partnership.

In Exchange for finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She's amazed she doesn't end up as his dinner-are there actually good vampires? Pretty soon Bones will have her convinced that being half-dead doesn't have to be all bad. But before she can enjoy her newfound status as kick-ass demon hunter, Cat and Bones are pursued by a group of killers. Now Cat will have to choose a side.....and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.

(summary from the back cover of the Avon book)

Review: This book is awesome!!!

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars! This is one of the best books I've read! Cat and Bones add action, whitty humor, and steaminess to make this novel a must read for any reader! There were parts where I had to laugh out loud they were so funny! This book has it all!

Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy Series) by Rachelle Mead

I finally finished the Vampire Academy Series and was relieved yet sad to finish it. A spin off series is coming out in August 2011 called Bloodlines. The setting is still at the school and the side characters in the VA series are able to tell their stories in this series. Can't wait to get this new series on my new Nook! :-) Here is the summary of Last Sacrifice and a review of the book!

Summary:

Murder. Love. Jealousy. And the ultimate sacrifice,

The Queen is dead and the Moroi world will never be the same. Now, with Rose awaiting wrongful execution and Lissa in a deadly struggle for the royal throne, the girls find themselves forced to rely upon enemies and to question those they thought they could trust.....

But what if true freedom means sacrificing the most important thing of all?

Each other.

********************************************************************************

As much as it killed me-as much as I tried to deny it-I still felt a lingering attraction to Dimitri. But he had rejected me, and I needed to harden my heart, especially if I wanted to move on with Adrian.

"Sorry Roza." Dimitri's eyes flashed. "If Lissa wants me to be your bodyguard, then that's what I'll be." He gave me a dangerous look. "There's no way you're getting rid of me anytime soon."

Review: Loved this book!!!!!

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars! I loved the chemistry between Rose and Dimitri once again. The ending was a happy one. Rose finally gives up control to her friends but then takes it back in the end and comes out a hero!

Dead Reckoning - by Charlaine Harris (The Show True Blood Is Based on These Books)

This was one of the books that I purchased from Barnes and Noble for my new Nook! I enjoyed the reading experience with the Nook - especially that you can turn of the lights and still read! I have missed Sookie and her mysterious and exciting life in Bon Temps. Here is a summary of the book and my review:

Summary:

With her knack for being in trouble's way, Sookie witnesses the firebombing of Merlotte's, the bar where she works. Since Sam Merlotte is now known to be two-natured, suspicion falls immediately on the anti-shifters in the area. But Sookie suspects otherwise and she and Sam work together to uncover the culprit - and the twisted motive for the attack. But her attention is divided. Though she can't 'read' vampires, Sookie knows her lover Eric Northman and his 'child' Pam well - and she realises that they are plotting to kill the vampire who is now their master. Gradually, she is drawn into the plot -which is much more complicated than she knows. Caught up in the politics of the vampire world, Sookie will learn that she is as much of a pawn as any ordinary human - and that there is a new Queen on the board . . .

(Goodreads.com)

Review: Excellent!

I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars. It didn't get 5 stars because of my bias opinion of the relationship between Eric and Sookie. Their relationship is on the rocks alot in this book (and Sookie struggles within herself to test if her and Eric are really meant to be together) and I didn't really care for it. With that being said, the rest of the book was great! Alot of mystery, action, and a dash of romance.
