Logan - Linda Lael Miller

Logan (Montana Creeds, #1)Logan by Linda Lael Miller

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Descendants of the legendary McKettrick family, the Creeds are renowned in Stillwater Springs, Montana—for raising hell…

After years of wandering, Logan Creed, a cowboy with a dusty law degree, has returned home. To put down roots, to restore his family's neglected ranch…to have kids of his own proudly bearing the Creed name.

Divorced mom Briana Grant has heard the stories about her gorgeous neighbor. So Logan's kindness with her young boys is a welcome surprise, especially when her ex reappears. And when an unknown enemy vandalizes her home, Logan shows Briana—and the folks of Big Sky country—just what he's made of.

(Summary from Goodreads.com)

In this book the words flowed easily and the characters were well rounded and well thought out. I liked the book, overall, but was a little disappointed that the brothers were still estranged in the end. There were also parts in the book that were not believable. Other than that, it was a great book to read. Looking forward to the rest of the series!

Shelter Mountian - Robyn Carr

Shelter Mountain (Virgin River, #2)Shelter Mountain by Robyn Carr

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

John "Preacher" Middleton is about to close the bar when a young woman and her three-year-old son come in out of the wet October night. A marine who has seen his share of pain, Preacher knows a crisis when he sees one—the woman is covered in bruises. He wants to protect them, and he wants to punish whoever did this to her, but he knows immediately that this inclination to protect is something much more. Paige Lassiter has stirred up emotions in this gentle giant of a man—emotions that he has never allowed himself to feel.

But when Paige's ex-husband turns up in Virgin River, Preacher knows his own future hangs in the balance. And if there's one thing the marines' motto of Semper Fidelis—always faithful—has taught him, it's that some things are worth fighting for.

(Summary from Goodreads.com)

Boy, oh, boy, was this a good book! Carr took a tough guy ex-marine and exposed his heart of gold along with being gentle and caring. That made the hero, Preacher, all the more enticing and sexy to boot! He is one of my favorite characters in this series and Carr did an excellent job conveying the message that true love conquers even the worst of situations! This book is on my favorites list!
