Here To Stay - Catherine Anderson

Here to Stay (Harrigan #4)Here to Stay by Catherine Anderson

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Mandy Pajeck had a tough childhood --- an abusive father, a mother who left, and a younger brother, Luke, who depended on her when she was just a child herself. Now twenty-eight, Mandy remains devoted to Luke and feels responsible for the accident that took his sight. But his complete reliance on her care is making them both miserable. When she meets handsome Zach Harrigan and his mini guide horse, she thinks she's found the ticket to her brother's happiness --- and maybe her own.

Of the five Harrigan siblings, Zach is the hellion who parties hard and takes nothing seriously. But lately his life has felt empty. So, employing his skills as a horseman, he begins training a mini guide horse for the blind, never expecting that the project will lead him to beautiful, tenderhearted Mandy. She's everything he's ever wanted in a woman. But though she's charmed by Zach's patience and compassion, she can't bring herself to fully trust him. And when Zach urges her to confront the truth about her mother's disappearance, the secrets they uncover are so shocking that even Zach's steadfast devotion may not be enough to win Mandy's heart.

*Summary from Goodreads.com*

It was heartwarming and romantic to see how Mandy and Zack fall in love. Despite her sketchy past, Mandy has to do some serious soul searching to have a relationship with Zach. Zach loves Mandy despite all her thorns and she becomes the most beautiful rose that he could ever imagine as she overcomes her fears and past. I loved this book! One of my favorites right up there with all the other cowboy books Anderson writes! Can't wait for the next one!

Ain't Too Proud to BegAin't Too Proud to Beg by Susan Donovan

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Josie Sheehan collects failed relationships the way some women collect designer handbags. Now, at thirty-five, she has exactly one male in her life: her Labradoodle, Genghis. In fact Josie, along with the three very single women in her dog-walking group, has recently sworn off men, resigning herself to long walks in the park with her devoted, four-legged friend.

All bets are off, however, when she meets Rick Rousseau, a pet-company CEO who is smart, sexy, and, best of all, head-over-heels for Josie. Even Genghis, an excellent judge of character, seems to know that Rick is the real deal. But just when Josie starts to think that she has found something more enduring than puppy love, she discovers that Rick has a complicated past—and a secret that could put the woman he loves in serious danger...
*Summary from Goodreads.com*
Liked this book overall, although it did move slow at parts. The mystery was good and the romance was not over the top, but just enough. I wouldn't say it's the best I've read, but it definitely was not one of the worst.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Maddie is determined to uncover the untold story about the town's sordid past—her past. As a child, Maddie lost everything, and now she's back at the scene of the scandal—a local establishment that's always belonged to the Hennessys—determined to uncover the truth, and nothing is going to stand in her way. His late father was a skirt-chasing heartbreaker who ended up causing disaster for two families. So far, Mick's managed to keep the ladies in line, but when he claps eyes on Maddie, with her luscious curves and tempting lips, he can't resist getting tangled up with her.

But Maddie is keeping secrets, not the least of which is her true reason for being in town. And when Mick discovers what‘s really going on, there is going to be a whole lot of trouble in Truly.
(summary from Goodreads.com)
This was an entertaining book that was full of heart and romance. Mick was known as a player in his hometown of Truly, and judging on his fathers track record of women he had followed in his footsteps. Maddie went to Truly to write a book and finally work out the details of her mother's murder. Neither of them knew that there was a bigger danger than the past being brought up again in a small town that has buried secrets, but that the bigger threat was falling in love with the enemy. Mick and Maddie end up shaking up things when the truth finally comes out. An unlikely couple falls head over heals in love and it was a startling stroke of luck that love comes out of such a mess.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Will this bad boy make it to the altar?

Foreign correspondent Roman Chandler has always prized his freedom above all else. Now losing a coin toss has sealed this youngest brother's fate. Finding someone to escort down the aisle is the easy part—every wannabe bride in sleepy Yorkshire Falls is itching to get hitched to this gorgeous, globe-trotting Chandler man. She wants a man that won't go chasing off to the far corners of the earth for a breaking news story. He wants her to say "I do."
(summary from Goodreads.com)
This story was a little hard to read at times because the story was slow-moving, but other than that I really enjoyed reading the book. Roman is a confirmed bachelor and doesn't want to fall in love, but that doesn't keep Charlotte from making a home in his heart. All is lost when Charlotte finds out that he is looking for a wife just because of a coin toss and she discounts his feelings for her but when he takes another job to compromise and stay with her, she has to admit that his love runs deeper than she could ever imagine!

Anyone But You - Jennifer Crusie

Anyone But You Anyone But You by Jennifer Crusie

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Barnes & Noble Review
Jennifer Crusie's many fans will be delighted to discover (or rediscover) her wonderful debut novel. It's an exuberant, romantic, and occasionally goofy comedy, with two unlikely love stories. The first is between 40-year-old Nina, happily divorced and looking for a puppy companion, and Fred, an overweight, grumpy basset/beagle spending his last day in the shelter. It's fortunate for everyone that Nina adopts him, since Fred ends up playing unwitting Cupid, introducing Nina to ER doctor Alex Moore, her handsome 30-year-old neighbor. That's where the second love story comes in, but it's not easy. Nina rules out any man 10 years younger, but she's happy to watch old movies with Alex -- night after night after night.

There are a lot of characters to love here, including Nina's best friend, who has a black thumb when it comes to romance, and her 75-year-old neighbor, who's got a very different attitude. As Alex and Nina inch toward romance, neither is willing to make the first move until they discover some basic home truths about the power of unconditional love. Ginger Curwen(less)

(Summary from Goodreads.com)

This book was a light but good romance read. It was original because of the age difference between the man and woman in this book was 10 years apart. I liked that 40-year old Nina gets her groove back with the younger Alex! Great book!

Mine Till Midnight - Lisa Kleypas

Mine Till Midnight (The Hathaways, #1)Mine Till Midnight by Lisa Kleypas

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Even though I normally read contemporary romance instead of historical romance, I really enjoyed reading this historical romance. I was surprised at how easily the story flowed and I love that Amelia and Cam had a love that was pure and yet unusually steamy. Cam always seemed to be in control and believed that fate had brought them together. Amelia was skeptical of fate, but had to admit in the end her love ran deeper than just friends. They give each other heart, body, and soul in this terrific novel that sends the reader back to a time when there were true gentlemen and spinster ladies. I recommend it for romance lovers who have read historical romance. As for those who haven't read historical romance, this one deserves your attention! You may be hooked when you read it! I know I was!

Dancing In The Moonlight - RaeAnne Thayne

Dancing In The Moonlight (Cowboys of Cold Creek, #2) (Silhouette Special Edition)Dancing In The Moonlight (Cowboys of Cold Creek, #2) by RaeAnne Thayne

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Lieutenant Magdalena Cruz had come home-And though all she wanted was to be alone, infuriatingly handsome Dr. Jake Dalton-of the enemy Daltons-wouldn't cooperate. And she needed him to, because the walls around her heart were dangerously close to crumbling every time he came near.-

Jake had spent most of his life trying to get closer to Maggie, with little to show for it. But she was the woman he'd always wanted, and no injury in the world could change that. Now if only he could convince her that the woman who stood before him was beautiful, desirable, whole-and meant to be his.-
( Summary from Goodreads.com)
I enjoyed reading this book because the guy is crazy over the girl. He seems like a nice doctor in a small town, but he has been hiding his passion for Maggie for several years. She eventually catches on, but she now has to prove to herself that she is worth his love after she has to have her leg amputated. A very endearing story!
