Here To Stay - Catherine Anderson

Here to Stay (Harrigan #4)Here to Stay by Catherine Anderson

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Mandy Pajeck had a tough childhood --- an abusive father, a mother who left, and a younger brother, Luke, who depended on her when she was just a child herself. Now twenty-eight, Mandy remains devoted to Luke and feels responsible for the accident that took his sight. But his complete reliance on her care is making them both miserable. When she meets handsome Zach Harrigan and his mini guide horse, she thinks she's found the ticket to her brother's happiness --- and maybe her own.

Of the five Harrigan siblings, Zach is the hellion who parties hard and takes nothing seriously. But lately his life has felt empty. So, employing his skills as a horseman, he begins training a mini guide horse for the blind, never expecting that the project will lead him to beautiful, tenderhearted Mandy. She's everything he's ever wanted in a woman. But though she's charmed by Zach's patience and compassion, she can't bring herself to fully trust him. And when Zach urges her to confront the truth about her mother's disappearance, the secrets they uncover are so shocking that even Zach's steadfast devotion may not be enough to win Mandy's heart.

*Summary from Goodreads.com*

It was heartwarming and romantic to see how Mandy and Zack fall in love. Despite her sketchy past, Mandy has to do some serious soul searching to have a relationship with Zach. Zach loves Mandy despite all her thorns and she becomes the most beautiful rose that he could ever imagine as she overcomes her fears and past. I loved this book! One of my favorites right up there with all the other cowboy books Anderson writes! Can't wait for the next one!

Ain't Too Proud to BegAin't Too Proud to Beg by Susan Donovan

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Josie Sheehan collects failed relationships the way some women collect designer handbags. Now, at thirty-five, she has exactly one male in her life: her Labradoodle, Genghis. In fact Josie, along with the three very single women in her dog-walking group, has recently sworn off men, resigning herself to long walks in the park with her devoted, four-legged friend.

All bets are off, however, when she meets Rick Rousseau, a pet-company CEO who is smart, sexy, and, best of all, head-over-heels for Josie. Even Genghis, an excellent judge of character, seems to know that Rick is the real deal. But just when Josie starts to think that she has found something more enduring than puppy love, she discovers that Rick has a complicated past—and a secret that could put the woman he loves in serious danger...
*Summary from Goodreads.com*
Liked this book overall, although it did move slow at parts. The mystery was good and the romance was not over the top, but just enough. I wouldn't say it's the best I've read, but it definitely was not one of the worst.

*Summary on Goodreads.com*

Tucker is a vet just trying to do his job at a rodeo when he sees Samantha struggling against a man twice her size. He steps in to defend her and both of them end up in jail for "attacking" the man that tried to beat Samantha up. Tucker is a good hearted man who is gentle and kind - nothing like Sam's ex-husband Steve. It takes a while for Sam to warm up to Tucker, but once she does the fireworks start! Loved this book and always enjoy reading Anderson's books!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Maddie is determined to uncover the untold story about the town's sordid past—her past. As a child, Maddie lost everything, and now she's back at the scene of the scandal—a local establishment that's always belonged to the Hennessys—determined to uncover the truth, and nothing is going to stand in her way. His late father was a skirt-chasing heartbreaker who ended up causing disaster for two families. So far, Mick's managed to keep the ladies in line, but when he claps eyes on Maddie, with her luscious curves and tempting lips, he can't resist getting tangled up with her.

But Maddie is keeping secrets, not the least of which is her true reason for being in town. And when Mick discovers what‘s really going on, there is going to be a whole lot of trouble in Truly.
(summary from Goodreads.com)
This was an entertaining book that was full of heart and romance. Mick was known as a player in his hometown of Truly, and judging on his fathers track record of women he had followed in his footsteps. Maddie went to Truly to write a book and finally work out the details of her mother's murder. Neither of them knew that there was a bigger danger than the past being brought up again in a small town that has buried secrets, but that the bigger threat was falling in love with the enemy. Mick and Maddie end up shaking up things when the truth finally comes out. An unlikely couple falls head over heals in love and it was a startling stroke of luck that love comes out of such a mess.

Finding someone to escort down the aisle is the easy part—every wannabe bride in sleepy Yorkshire Falls is itching to get hitched to this gorgeous, globe-trotting Chandler man. She wants a man that won't go chasing off to the far corners of the earth for a breaking news story. He wants her to say "I do."
(summary from Goodreads.com)
This story was a little hard to read at times because the story was slow-moving, but other than that I really enjoyed reading the book. Roman is a confirmed bachelor and doesn't want to fall in love, but that doesn't keep Charlotte from making a home in his heart. All is lost when Charlotte finds out that he is looking for a wife just because of a coin toss and she discounts his feelings for her but when he takes another job to compromise and stay with her, she has to admit that his love runs deeper than she could ever imagine!
